Berlin’s Art Forum

This year’s Art Forum Berlin promises once again to exceed previous annuals and attract an interesting mix of established and emerging galleries and institutions.
The biggest representations outside Germany traditionally come from the United States, Great Britain and the Nordic countries. Proven names will include Leo Koenig (New York), Wang (Oslo), Nordenhake (Berlin), Gagosian (Berlin) and Helga de Alvear (Madrid) among others. New faces will include presentations by cutting-edge galleries from New York (Pierogi, Eyestorm, Maccarone), Paris (Anton Weller, du Jour), and London (modern art inc, Asprey Jacque, and Hales). The hot news this year is that the fair will present three exhibitors from Chine and one from Cuba.
Presentations by East European countries will be dominated by the strong trio from Moscow consisting of Aidan, XL and Regina, as well as Prague’s Jiří Švestka Gallery. The nimble galleries Škuc, from Ljubljana, and Trafó, from Budapest, will make their first appearance this year.
Art Forum Berlin runs from October 3-7. A comprehensive program and detailed information is available at www.art-forum-berlin.com

There is nothing that has not already been done in culture, squeezed or pulled inside out, blown to dust. Classical culture today is made by scum. Those working in the fine arts who make paintings are called artists. Otherwise in the backwaters and marshlands the rest of the artists are lost in search of new and ever surprising methods. They must be earthbound, casual, political, managerial,…
Magda Tóthová Magda Tóthová
Borrowing heavily from fairy tales, fables and science fiction, the art of Magda Tóthová revolves around modern utopias and social models and their failures. Her works address personal and social issues, both the private and the political. The stylistic device of personification is central to the social criticism emblematic of her work and to the negotiation of concepts used to construct norms.…

There’s 130 kilos of fat, muscles, brain & raw power on the Serbian contemporary art scene, all molded together into a 175-cm tall, 44-year-old body. Terminator vs. Avatar: Notes on Accelerationism Terminator vs. Avatar: Notes on Accelerationism
Why political intellectuals, do you incline towards the proletariat? In commiseration for what? I realize that a proletarian would hate you, you have no hatred because you are bourgeois, privileged, smooth-skinned types, but also because you dare not say that the only important thing there is to say, that one can enjoy swallowing the shit of capital, its materials, its metal bars, its polystyrene…
