Letter: January 6, 2009
To my friends, I can hear you. I have been laying beside Daniel, hour after hour and day after day, watching the sights and listening closely to the endless horror of war. I am devastated. I seem to think, ironically, that if I watch constantly than we, Danny and I, shall hold the war back (even if only slightly). I want to do more. You know my work, somehow always reflects the gain of ideology beside the loss of lives and - I have imagined performing “About Love” in front of Parliament, on the main shopping area, inside a shelter, at the Art gallery, facing the sea. I am futile. Sincerely, Adina Letter: February 1, 2009 My Dear Alena, I think I know how you feel when trying to have an influence during a state of War. Art seems futile in the face of War; How can the Muses sing while the Bombs are falling!? [There is such a saying in Hebrew ... have you a saying that has a similar meaning?] I wanted to perform during the war, as a form of a protest, I suppose, but it felt ridiculous; I mean - Art can not scare War! HA! I will perform, though, in a fundraising event; a fundraising event for the Palestinians ... All my work deals with Loss in the face of Ideologies and consequently Wars.
