Lenka Lindaurová | new faces | en cs

Born in 1978, Kalinová currently studies at Peter Rónai’s Intermedia and Conceptual Tendencies Studio at the Fine Arts Faculty at the Technical College in Brno.
Originally trained as a painter, Jana Kalinová focuses on conceptual objects, which seem almost to fall from her hands. Their striking creative and ironic nature makes them stand out among works by other young artists. Her objects give the impression that Kalinová is simply pulling them out of her own private well with the expression of a person who knows that the well is bottomless. One of her most distinctive works includes a set of wooden light bulbs, floor lamps, cookers and heaters, which only proves how easy it is to make good art. The revived, negative of a fire extinguisher evokes a visit by extra terrestrials at Kalinová’s home, which is also the case with the color-copied towels. Jana Kalinová works with time as well as against it: for example, her model of a TV set from the 1970s.

An American poet was invited to the White House in order to read his controversial plagiarized poetry. All tricked out and ready to do it his way, he comes to the “scandalous” realization that nothing bothers anyone anymore, and instead of banging your head against the wall it is better to build you own walls or at least little fences.
Le Dernier Cri and the black penis of Marseille Le Dernier Cri and the black penis of Marseille
We’re constantly hearing that someone would like to do some joint project, organize something together, some event, but… damn, how to put it... we really like what you’re doing but it might piss someone off back home. Sure, it’s true that every now and then someone gets kicked out of this institution or that institute for organizing something with Divus, but weren’t they actually terribly self…
