VÁCLAV CÍLEK, SHAPES OF ROCKS/ "TAIGA" LECTURE
There is perhaps no other rock that can take on so many shapes as the sandstone. Since the times of K. H. Mácha or C. D. Friedrich it is often described, depicted in drawings and photographed. In this lecture we reject the aesthetics and delve instead into the origins and development of the sandstone relief.

Medieval countryside is a construct – the term "countryside" was never used (nor was the term "medieval", for that matter). Our view is given by the antiquity and the mediterranean typology cannot be straightforwardly applied to Europe behind the Alps. The archaic, "barbarian" understanding of countryside is surviving to this day - as opposed to the antique and "cultural".

JIŘÍ SÁDLO, A COUNTRYSIDE WHERE NOTHING HAPPENS / LECTURE
The region of Doksy (the countryside between Doksy, Česká Lípa, Mimoň, Osečná, Kuřivody, Bakov a Bělá pod Bezdězem) is a relict region of the lowland taiga. Nine years of its stability shows that this country is driven from the perspectivity of the past. Pine ecosystems haven't changed here for 9000 years, just from the moment of its origination. They didn't react to the Holocene changes of the climate, they haven't been changed by intensification of the forestry or clearcut management. They created their sterile arenic podsoles, eliminated attempts of farming and building big cities. Here, taiga is eternal and immune, thanks to its ability to heal from cultural interventions.

Hudebníci z různých prostředí zahrají tentokrát spolu s hostem Alexejem Plyusninem (RU) na kytaru. PIO je první improvizační orchestr, který byl založen v České republice. Svou prací navazuje na světově proslulé zahraniční soubory jako Ra Arkestra (US), The Scratch Orchestra (UK) a Globe Unity Orchestra (DE).

TAIGA BEZDĚZSKAJA / EXHIBITION
The existence of a taiga in Northern Bohemia between Mimoň and Doksy is not a fiction, but a standard scientific fact. This exhibition is dedicated to science bordering on art. The title of the exhibition is not only a reminiscence of the twenty-year long stay of Soviet troops in the area north of Bezděz (although messages written in Cyrillic can be found everywhere in the area), it deserves a more detailed explanation: Taiga is a wholly specific type of landscape, covering the entire area ranging from Scandinavia all the way to Siberia. On the territory of what is today the Czech Republic, there used to be taiga as well, soon after the Ice Age, but it disappeared already during the several thousand years that followed. With one exception: the relatively small area delimited by Doksy, Česká Lípa, Stráž pod Ralskem, and Bakov and dominated by the well-known silhouette of the Bezděz castle with its two towers.

JAKUB NĚMEČEK - POKUS A OMYL JAKO POCTA TRAPNOSTI / VÝSTAVA
Výstava kreslených příběhů nebo také stripů Jakuba Němečka v naší kavárně. Naivní a trapná sova, která občas vede řeči proti režimu. Postupně se přidávají se další divné postavy. Jejich jednání připomíná humor bezdomovce, který se veze v tramvaji a slušné cestující se snaží pobavit nebo alespoň navázat s nimi kontakt. Marnost.

Pověsti o těžkých časech na trhu s uměním jsou opět velmi přehnané...
Letošní 50. ročník Art Basel přilákal celkem 93 000 návštěvníků a sběratelů z 80 zemí světa. 290 prémiových galerií představilo umělecká díla od počátku 20. století až po současnost. Hlavní sektor přehlídky, tradičně v prvním patře výstavního prostoru, představil 232 předních galerií z celého světa nabízející umění nejvyšší kvality. Veletrh ukázal vzestupný trend prodeje prostřednictvím galerií jak soukromým sbírkám, tak i institucím. Kromě hlavního veletrhu stály za návštěvu i ty přidružené: Volta, Liste a Photo Basel, k tomu doprovodné programy a výstavy v místních institucích, které kvalitou daleko přesahují hranice města tj. Kunsthalle Basel, Kunstmuseum, Tinguely muzeum nebo Fondation Beyeler.
